Friday, April 1/2011
Line Knitwear closed LG Fashion Week on Friday to a packed house of fashion industry heavy hitters with a stunning collection entitled “Migrant Muse”, inspired by European settlers and the clothes they wore as they traveled to the new world. Since its inception in 2000, I have collected some of the coziest Line knits in my everyday wardrobe, some of which have become timeless go-to items in my closet.
Toronto based designers John Muscat and Jennifer Wells successfully create another luxurious collection of their signature knits, chunky crochets, silks, layers and layers of floor length looks with the addition of ultra glamorous fur (my guilty pleasure). I can only imagine the mastery that goes into the creation of the intricate workings of knit and jersey. I was seated front row next to FDCC (Fashion Design Council of Canada) president Robin Kay and were in awe of some of the amazing details that these photos don’t even begin to do justice.

Thanks to Robin Kay, (FDCC President) for the awesome front row seats and another amazing week of fun & fashion in Toronto.

Friday, April 1/2011…Amanda Lew Kee F/W2011
Friday was the final day of LG Fashion Week and overall, I utterly enjoyed the shows and all the frolicking in between. Richard (torontoisfashion.com) & I sat front row and just before the Amanda Lew Kee show, the FDCC volunteers handed out these huge rolling carts filled with swag to select front row attendees. Some found it tacky and I hear some people actually got upset that it ruined the runway photos. Personally, I thought it was fun and after lugging it home, I discovered that it was filled with tons of every day goodies that I can actually use.
The Amanda Lew Kee show was one of the most highly anticipated shows of the week and one that I personally did not want to miss. This season Kee’s collection was all about black on black texture with touches of bright tinsel like color, which was the polar opposite of Kee’s SS2011 palette of of nude, greys, salmon and silver. All the shoes were provided by Sam Edleman and the models nails were done in a metallic MINX. I love to see young creative minds at work and taking risks, especially in a world as critical as fashion. Kudos to Amanda.

The Amanda Lew Kee swag bag included a FREE PAIR of Sam Edleman shoes of your choice from Trend Marketing. Sweet!

Here’s what was inside the LGFW Swag Bags, in case you were wondering…razors for him & her, a Sharpie marker, Hollywood fashion fape, Woolite, hairbrush, L’oreal face cream, make-up, shampoo and hairspray, and even Kellogs cereal & cereal bars.

My favourite thing about Fashion Week is getting dressed up and throwing on a pair of fancy shoes, but sometimes it’s even more fun to see what everyone else is wearing. I kicked it with Canada’s pop princess Keshia Chante and we played footsies for the camera. Keshia happens to be one of the very first artists I dressed at the start of my styling career, way back when she was 14 years old, so we go way way back when I styled her first 2 music videos and single album cover. We both have surely come a long way since, both in our career and style. lol.
Keshia was wearing a fabulous pair of Versace neon cutout super platform shoes, similar to the crazy Versace runway shoes I blogged about last summer when I was at Bal Harbour Shops in Miami. I was wearing a pair of Christian Louboutin yellow suede platform booties that I scored at Fashionably Yours!! A pop of color, as we anxiously await Spring weather.
LG Fashion Week photo diary coming soon. xo

LG Fashion Week in Toronto officially began on Monday, March 28 which is being held for the 2nd time at the beautiful Heritage Court at the Exhibition Place (100 Princess Blvd.). Last year they had the Barbie photo booth; this year it was all about Ken with the “Everyone Needs a Ken” booth featuring live male models dresses as Ken dolls. I rolled through with my FY crew yesterday, caught up with some of my fashionable peers and attended 3 shows including Pink Tartan, Joe Fresh, and Bustle.

Friday, October 22/2010 LG Fashion Week Toronto
After the Amanda Lew Kee Show, we stayed to watch the Denis Gagnon Spring Summer 2011 Collections for the final showing at LG Fashion Week in Toronto. OMG! It was the most spectacular show and I was at the edge of my seat with every look that came out. The intricate detailing of each piece blew my mind and can only imagine how much work went into the creation of this line, from the fringe ombre dresses to the bags, each article of clothing was meticulously crafted to perfection, as was the precisely spiked hair that complimented. I didn’t want the show to end. We were seated up front right at the entrance of the runway so I took a ton of close up photos. Thanks to Robin Kay, the president of the FDCC, for the awesome seats and for another successful LG Fashion Week. We had a blast this year and am sad to say good-by till next Spring. xoxo
“Denis Gagnon is one the most renowned Canadian designers of his generation and be found at Holt Renfrew, by providing the store with two collections a year.”

Friday, October 22, 2010…LG Fashion Week Toronto
Last night, I attended several shows for the Final Day of LG Fashion Week in Toronto and one of the lines I was most looking forward to seeing was the Amanda Lew Kee Spring Summer 2011 Collection. The 21-year old designer Amanda is a friend of my FY boy JayStrut and he always raves about her edgy designs so I finally got the opportunity to see first hand and I’m impressed, not only with the details in her designs but also with the creativity of her presentation.
The show began with a mini movie, as the models made their entrance in the dark wearing bright blue lipstick and positioned themselves on a platform in the middle of the runway. I was sitting with her proud family & friends right in front of the platform so I snapped some great photos and video. The line consisted of shredded long dresses (my favorite), minis, two piece separates and mix of sheer and structured fabrics with a futuristic feel, all with a romantic color palette of nude, grays, salmon and silvers.
In her gift bag, I received one of her studded nude leather bracelets and a bag of multi-colored popcorn, which she later explained to me, were to represent the exact colors she used in creating her line. Cute idea and I’ll definitely be stacking the bracelet on my wrist soon. Well done Amanda. I can’t wait to see more.
I hung out with the 21-year old designer and her crew of super cute girls and boys last weekend and they are a fun, inspiring & talented group of up-and-comers in retail, photography, promotions & design. They are who we need to be watching and the ones will be shaping our bright future in fashion & entertainment. xo

Day 2 of LG Fashion Week, I attended the Line Knitwear S/S 2011 Show and brought my girl Nebby along and met up with my FY boy JayStrut. Nebby always adds a fun little twist on life. If you know her, you know what I mean. If you don’t, check her out at The Segment or keep up with her entertaining tweets.

Nebby & Ken doll…

I wore this asymmetrical cutout dress by Mason, an LA based brand founded by designer Michelle Mason. She has an awesome edgy collection of dresses and fashion forward pieces that I started collecting a couple seasons ago, so you’ll be seeing a lot more Mason around here. I didn’t even get a chance to take my jacket off, so you can’t really see the amazing cutout detailing of this dress, hence I’ll surely be wearing this again one day soon.

OUTFIT: Mason dress (The Room at The Bay), Comme des Garcon ruffled blazer, Tiffany key necklace, Acne Admire Wedge Boots, Chanel flap bag, Armani metal fringe earrings, Gucci Watch, Links Bracelet, and misc jewelery from Fashionably Yours.
